The One Economy Foundation exists to bridge the socioeconomic divide by building pathways to equality and shared prosperity. Through education, health and empowerment programmes, it helps millions of young Namibians who find themselves bound in generational cycles of exclusion, poverty and unemployment to overcome barriers and lead change in their communities.

Initiatives

#BeFree Movement

The #BeFree Movement is a transformative platform that aims to create safe and non-judgemental spaces for open and frank dialogues across generations. It addresses critical issues such as reproductive health, violence, mental health, economic vulnerabilities and other pressing challenges that prevent young people from realising their full potential.

#BeFree Youth Campus

Located in Katutura, one of Windhoek’s high-density suburbs, the Campus affords young people between 13 and 35 years old access to life skills courses, psychosocial support, sexual and reproductive health and other clinical services, entrepreneurial development, and skills development.

#BreakFree From Violence Campaign

The #BreakFree Pillar prioritises gender-based violence (GBV) support, advocacy and prevention. It provides trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, safe spaces and counselling to help survivors heal. Through peer support and emergency response services, young people receive the care they need to rebuild their lives.

Youth Opportunity!

With a focus on sustainable and innovative technology and enterprise, YO! provides young people with the opportunity to future-proof their communities through the next industrial revolution. YO! partners with existing stakeholders to strengthen and increase accessibility to vocational skills and financial literacy training to enhance skills development and address unemployment.

Africa REACH

Africa REACH is an African-led, African-focused effort intended to unify and amplify its strongest political and cultural forces to create true continental change and fulfil the promise of an AIDS-free generation in Africa. Monica Geingos is the Chair of the Leadership Council.

WomenLift Health

WomenLift Health is committed to expanding the power and influence of talented women in global health and catalysing systemic change to achieve gender equality in leadership. Monica Geingos is on the Advisory Board.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center (the EJS Center) has been specifically designed to house the premier institution dedicated to advancing women’s aspirations for development in Africa. Monica Geingos is the Board Chair of the EJS Center.

The Global Council on Inequality, AIDS and Pandemics

The Council gathers evidence on the link between inequalities and pandemics, bringing evidence directly to world leaders with recommendations for innovative approaches. The Council comprises global experts from academia, government, civil society, international development and the creative arts, who propose evidence-based solutions for addressing inequalities linked to AIDS and pandemics.

Leadership Lab Yetu

Leadership Lab Yetu is a pan-African hub championing intergenerational leadership. We connect emerging and experienced leaders to imagine, build, and implement lasting solutions to Africa’s distinct challenges. Our flagship Intergenerational Leadership Accelerator brings together multigenerational leaders and supports the co-creation of innovative, robust policy solutions. Yetu is also a hub for ideas and fresh thinking. We publish informed research, sparking dialogue on Africa’s development and the state of leadership.
